Dr. Marcelo Amaral Mali,MPH
Marcelo Amaral Mali is a public health researcher and consultant with extensive experience in health policy, program evaluation, and implementation research. He has worked at the Ministry of Health of Timor-Leste for over a decade, including a leadership role as a national director. His expertise spans qualitative and quantitative research, gender-based violence, infectious diseases, and food safety. He has published studies on domestic violence, mental health in leprosy patients, and coping strategies of women facing GBV with TB or HIV. Marcelo is also involved with KYOMU Research and Innovation, providing research, consultancy, and training services

• Public Health Surveillance: Expertise in infectious disease surveillance, field epidemiology, and outbreak investigations.
• Infectious Disease Epidemiology: Specialized in the surveillance, control, and prevention of infectious diseases, including vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs), neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), emerging infectious diseases, and zoonotic diseases.
• Disease Management and Control: Skilled in infection prevention, disease transmission analysis, and hospital administration for infectious disease control.
• Geospatial Public Health Analysis: Proficient in geospatial analysis using Quantum GIS software to map disease patterns and enhance public health decision-making.
• Tropical Medicine and Hospital Administration: Knowledgeable in infection prevention strategies, viral infection management, and the integration of epidemiological research into hospital administration.


Nevio Sarmento
Director EXECUTIVE
Nevio is a Senior Scientist and Microbiologist at the National Health Laboratory (NHL) in Timor Leste and member of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group Timor-Leste (NITAG-TL). In his role at the NHL, Nevio contributes to the testing and surveillance of COVID-19 in the Timor-Leste community. As a member of NITAG-TL , Nevio advises the Ministry of Health on the protection of the Timorese people from vaccine preventable diseases through immunisation. Nevio is also a PhD student at Menzies School of Health Research studying the serotypes of pneumococcus (Streptococcus pneumoniae) in pneumonia and malnourished children under five in Dili, Timor-Leste.


Dr. Mariano da Silva Marques, MPHM
MEMBER
Dr. Mariano da Silva Marques is a medical doctor with a Master Degree in Primary Health Care Management who is currently working as Chair of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group of Timor-Leste and Director of Procurement & Contracts at FPM.IP, Ministry of Health Timor-Leste. He completed his M.D. degree from the Latin America School of Medicine, Ciego de Avila- CUBA (2013), and his Master Degree from the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University Thailand (2020). He also spent his part-time activity teaching the subject of Eradication of infectious disease to the graduate student of Public Health at a private university. He has been invited as an external observer for the TCV campaign Introduction in Nepal in 2022 and representing the Ministry of Health participated in the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) Brisbane – Australia. The Ministry of Health Timor-Leste has acknowledged his contributions regarding the recommendation to introduce the COVID-19 vaccine, PCV, and HPV vaccines in the country..
